Mathematics
At All Saints', we are committed to developing confident, resilient and enthusiastic mathematicians. Our mathematics curriculum is carefully planned using the White Rose Maths scheme alongside the National Curriculum, ensuring that children build secure mathematical knowledge and skills as they progress through the school. White Rose Maths is designed to align with National Curriculum objectives and supports a coherent progression of learning through small, manageable steps. Through a mastery approach, pupils are encouraged to develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts before moving on to new learning.
Lessons focus on the key strands of fluency, reasoning and problem solving, enabling children to explain their thinking, make connections and apply their knowledge in a range of contexts. Teaching follows the Concrete, Pictorial and Abstract (CPA) approach, where children use practical resources, visual representations and mathematical symbols to develop understanding.
Our aim is for children to leave our school with a positive attitude towards mathematics, confidence in their abilities and the skills they need to succeed in the next stage of their education and beyond. Through high-quality teaching and a consistent approach across the school, we strive to ensure that every child develops strong mathematical understanding and a lifelong appreciation of Maths.
